But of course, what would a party be without a signature drink? We will be drinking Pisces, in honor of the little prince, and his Grandma with whom he shares a birthday! Here's the skinny a la Martha Stewart:
The Pisces
1 oz violet liqueur, preferably Creme Yvette
1 tspn fresh lemon juice
ice cubes
4 oz Prosecco
1 lemon-peel twist
mix violet liqueur, lemon juice and ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into small glass and top with prosecco. Serve with a lemon-peel twist.
Now, leave it to Martha to suggest, no PREFER, Creme Yvette, a 100 year old liqueur that is "being" reintroduced. She hypes it, gives us a recipe, makes us CRAVE it and then, lo and behold, we find out it's not actually available to the public yet. Thanks Martha.
A suitable substitute? Rothman and Winter's Creme de Violette. Just as good if not slightly less complex. I would recommend using this for now and getting a bottle of Creme Yvette when it becomes available. This is being distributed by the same folks responsible for St. Germaine (a spirit I became a huge fan of about 5 years ago- yes before the masses!!!!).
Anyway, stay ahead of the curve and try out this awesome cocktail, and let me know if you love it or hate it.
I love this picture. This is one handsome boy!! I will bet his mom is a hotie Mc-hotie!!
